The Wood River is a spring fed classic meandering spring creek. It's a completely different experience from the Williamson just a couple miles away. It offers solitude, and world class birding, and hosts a nice population of resident Brown Trout to go with the migratory Rainbows. It's open to artificial only catch and release fishing late May - end of October. As the the summer heat warms Upper Klamath Lake large Rainbow Trout migrate out of the lake in search of cooler water. As a result, fishing begins to pick up as the summer heat increases. Once July rolls in, the river is full of fish and will stay that way until the fall rains arrive. Most fish run in the 18-24" range  with legitimate chances to catch wild Rainbows 10+ lbs.
